Article Tip of the Day

Here is a little bit of background on my first two articles.

In 1986 I finished everything but my dissertation for my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Florida State University.

Making a long story short, between 1986 and 1990 it became very clear to me that I was not going to finish my dissertation and thus my Ph.D. because I just could not write.

In 1992 I wrote two articles for the local psychiatric center’s newsletter - one on parenting teenagers and one on managing stress.

In 1994 I began to write a weekly column for the local newspaper. It was quickly picked up by the parent syndicate and now, 13 years later, it runs all over the world reaching over 10 million people a week.

In 2005 I launched The Article Guy website, teaching other internet marketers and others online how to write and market articles.

Writing your first article

I told you all that to tell you this - if I can do it, the guy that never finished his dissertation because he believed he could not write, YOU can do it!

If I can write articles, you can write articles.

Here is what I want you to do - Pick a topic from your area of expertise and make a list of 7 tips you could offer someone. Then take one tip and write two or three sentences about that tip. Then do this same thing for the six other tips.

Next write an introduction and conclusion. Make sure it is at least 250 - 300 words long. If it is less than 250 go back and add a couple of sentences to a few tips.

You have just written your first article.
